Story of Siti Nurvaya

   Siti Nurbaya is the son of His Majesty Sulaiman, a wealthy merchant, while Samsul Bahri is the son of Penghulu Sutan Mahmud. They have been friends since childhood because they are both Padang people who live next door. When they grew up, they fell in love so they were both lonely and longed for compilation to be separated because Samsul Bahri went to school in Jakarta.
Seeing the success of His Majesty, Datuk Maringgih was jealous and then told his men to destroy His Majesty's wealth. His Majesty fell into poverty so he could not pay his debt to the grandfather Maringgih.

  Datuk Maringgih denied that he would imprison the king if he did not pay the debt. Or as a substitute, it must be given to Siti Nurbaya to be married. For the sake of his parents' safety, Siti Nurbaya wants to be Datuk Maringgih's wife. This was told to Samsul Bahri that he was very angry for Datuk Maringgih.

   One holiday, Samsul Bahri returned home and met Siti Nurbaya. This meeting was known by Datuk Maringgih which caused a commotion that caused His Majesty Sulaiman who was sick, fell and died. Siti Nurbaya was expelled and then stayed at her aunt's house. Samsul Bahri was also expelled because it was considered not obscene. Samsul Bahri fled to Jakarta.
Siti Nurbaya Gone on her lover by boat. This was known by Datuk Maringgih, so he ordered his men to kill Siti Nurbaya. This attempt failed. Datuk Maringgih sent slander to the port saying that Siti Nurbaya took it, so Siti Nurbaya took it and was sent home for trial. Siti Nurbaya was not approved, she was free. Datuk Maringgih is not satisfied. He ordered someone to sell lemang to Siti Nurbaya. Siti Nurbaya died because she died. His aunt was very sad and died.

  In Jakarta, Samsul Bahri was frustrated and trying to work had not been successful. Ten years later he entered the Dutch army in search of death and summoned him to eventually turn into Lieutenant Mas.

  Lieutenant Mas was sent to Padang to quell the anti-tax rebellion led by Datuk Maringgih. Lieutenant Mas managed to kill Datuk Maringgih, but Datuk Maringgih managed to cut his sword to Lieutenant Mas's head. Lieutenant Mas was taught at the hospital. Before he died, to Sutan Mahmud he apologized and asked to be buried next to Siti Nurbaya. For the death of Lieutenant Mas, who is none other than Satan, Samsul Bahri. Sutan Mahmud suffered so much that he finally died. It is said that in Bukit Padang there are their graves lined up, His Majesty Sulaiman, Siti Nurbaya, Samsul Bahri, Sutan Mahmud.

(Koe no Katachi) 

     As a wild youth, elementary school student Shouya Ishida sought to beat boredom in the cruelest ways. When the deaf Shouko Nishimiya transfers into his class, Shouya and the rest of his class thoughtlessly bully her for fun. However, when her mother notifies the school, he is singled out and blamed for everything done to her. With Shouko transferring out of the school, Shouya is left at the mercy of his classmates. He is heartlessly ostracized all throughout elementary and middle school, while teachers turn a blind eye.Now in his third year of high school, Shouya is still plagued by his wrongdoings as a young boy. Sincerely regretting his past actions, he sets out on a journey of redemption: to meet Shouko once more and make amends.Koe no Katachi tells the heartwarming tale of Shouya's reunion with Shouko and his honest attempts to redeem himself, all while being continually haunted by the shadows of his pastThe concept of karma always arises, Shouya "deserves" his punishment for what he has done to Shouko. Shouko's Mom "deserves" to have a deaf child and Shouko "deserves" to be deaf for something they might have done in a past life.In Buddhism one of the main believes is reincarnation, your next life is determined by your actions in your current and past life.  With this in mind Shouya begins the story as a bully but, later on attempts to make amends for what he has done. But, during this he learns that he can never give Shouko the happy childhood that he had taken away from her. He can not take away the scar he gave Shouko on her ear from when they were kids.

     He will still never truly understand Shouko even after learning sign language. It is an attempt to try to understand how she feels but, no one will ever know how she feels. Even Shouko doesn't understand how others feel. She is always smiling as if she was wearing a mask. She is also apologizing. She does not want her family to be hurt by what she is going through but, she does not understand the confusion this is putting on them and the people around her.The only scene that she shows her true self is when Shouya throws her notebook into a pond, she returns home crying. But why? This notebook is Shouko's most valued item in the world, it is her voice to the world. Shouko would write in ink, during the bullying others would write mean things, though she still carried it around for hopes of communication with others.This is why when Shouya gave her back the book she was very accepting of him. He had given her voice back to her, this is why when she had lost the book again in the river she jumped in for it. She did not want to lose her voice again.

After this scene, the story follows Shouya and Shouko's thoughts about suicide, as we see them always meeting at the bridge with the Koi fish. There is a legend about a Koi fish that turned into a dragon after climbing a waterfall. Strength to over come things is the Koi fish symbolism. In the beginning we see Koi fish swimming in a river, each fish represents a character in the story.

     Ueno is similar to Shouya but, her efforts never come close, the only difference is that she loads and acts impulsively. She does not try to change but, try's to change others.Mashiba try's to create justice but, it's false justice because he was bullied as a kid. This is shown when it is found out that Shouya had bullied Shouko as a kid, and he punches Shouya at the bridge (Manga).

     Sahara is the first Koi fish to swim away, she runs when there is conflict and hides from her problems. Though over time she does face her fears.Kawai is just the antagonist...she thinks she is the pretty girl and has done nothing wrong. She does not see what others see, a faker.The last Koi fish represents both Shouya and Shouko as their actions throughout the story turning into a dragon...Though Shouya never stops thinking about suicide throughout the story but, is pushed back by other characters like his Mom. He decides that he will live to make Shouko happy, though he still can not understand her. Shouko had done this as well, she does understand this has a backlash to the world and people around her that is why she is always smiling, always apologizing. She doesn't want to make anyone sad, that is also a reason for feeding the Koi fish, she does this to make them happy. Similar to Shouya trying to make her happy.

     After a while Shouko's smile slowly fades, she can not keep her mask on any longer. She feels that she only creates pain for the people around her. She decides to end her life to make everyone happy. In the beginning she jumps off a bridge to get her notebook and Shouya couldn't reach her, not only is this foreshadowing but, it explains that he can not reach her yet or understand her. Shouya finding her about to jump, grabs her hand and prays to replace Shouko, to die in her place. Once he saves Shouko he can no longer hold himself up and falls. Shouko crys but, is not heard. Her voice has been taken away. Shouya's Mom can not forgive her until Shouya wakes up.

   
     In Shouko's dream she views messages from Shouya in the way as he would write it in her notebook, she finally understands why he has been doing all these things for her. Shouya wakes up, reincarnated, he is given a second chance to write his wrongs. To move forward with Shouko. Beginning his new life he is still off with the world but, now Shouya and Shouko understand each other. The X's on people's faces fall off. He is able to enjoy his new reincarnated life with the help of Shouko and his friends around him.The light at the opening scene...is two people holding hands, walking forward ready to face anything in their path, pain is a part of life, being able to accept the pain allows you to move forward toward a brighter future. Though it is easier to walk toward the light when you have someone beside you.

Kancil and the giant Story

    One beautiful morning Kancil decided to fish in a certain river. On the way he met his friend, Swine, who stopped him for a chat. When Swine heard that Kancil wanted to go fishing, he asked whether he could join him, Kancil did not object, as Swine promised to help him with the work.

together and soon they met Tiger and Elephant. When they heard that Kancil and Swine were going to the river, they decide to go along, too. And so the four animals went together to the river to fish.When they arrived at the river bank, Kancil immediately began to give orders left and right. Elephant had to dam the river with stones and tree trunks. Tiger and Swine had to throw away the river water while Kancil himself set out to catch the fish left on the dry river bed. There were, however, few fish, so they decided to go further down the river to try their lick again. Kancil ordered Swine to stay behind with their catch. He himself went with Tiger and Elephant further downstream where the tree of them began their work all over again

    Meanwhile, a giant came to the place where Swine sat. As soon as he saw the glittering fish, he grabbed them greedily and stuffied them what into his mouth. It was useless for Swine to protect and the giant did not even listen to him. Swine ran toward his friends and told them had happened. Of course, the three others were bot very pleased.The second time, too, they did not catch enough fish. did not even listen to him. Ordered Tiger to stay behind with their second catch, while he, Swine and Elephant went further away to dam the river at another place. As soon as the three of them were out of sight, the hungry giant came from behind the bushes and ate up all the fish. Tiger snarled angrily, but he did not dare to fight the giant.When the other animals came back with their catch they found a very ashamed Tiger without a single fish. Kancil scolded him until he became red in the face. Now it was Elephant’s turn to play guard.

  You are so big. Friend Elephant. Certainly, we can trust you to defend our fish,” said Kancil

  For the third time the giant came to eat the fish. When Elephant saw how big he was, he became afraid and let the giant steal their fish. Kancil and the others came back, they found the basket empty again. Kancil was very angry with his three friends. He shouted, “What’s the use of having such big and strong bodies, if you can’t even chase away one single giant. This time I will stay here myself. Do you think I am too small to do this job? Go away , the three of you, and catch as a many fish as you can. When you come back, you will find that robber lying here in front of me, bound and helpless.”

  After Swine, Tiger and Elephant had gone away, Kancil plucked a big bunch of reeds from the river side. He tied these reeds around his body. Then lying down under the nearest tree, he bound the reed ends to the roots of the tree. He was very busy tying himself when the giant came. Kancil pretended not to see him and went on with his work. The giant became curious and instead of grabbing the fish he stopped to look sown at Kancil and asked what he was doing.

“Well. Well. Don’t you know what is going happen today?” asked Kancil in a surprised tone.

“What is going to happen today?” asked the giant curiously.

“I thought everybody knew about it,” answered Kancil. “You must have been asleep when Nabi Sulaiman came into the forest to warn all the animals about the big flood. The big flood will carry everybody away to the see, unless he takes precaution to be safe.”

“Oh, I have not heard about this flood,” answered the giant, who believe every word Kancil said, “Tell me, what do you do to avoid being carried away?”

“Don’t you see what I am doing” said Kancil. “I bind myself to these roots, so that the water will not drag me away
Narrative Text Fable - Kancil and the giant Story

“That’s a very good idea,” said the stupid giant. “Won’t you help me a little?”

“Why not? I am always ready to help somebody in need,” answered Kancil. “But these reeds are not strong enough to hold your heavy body. Why don’t you go into the forest and collect a big bunch of thick rattan? I shall wait for you here. But hurry, we don’t have much time as the flood will come soon after noon.”

The stupid giant, afraid of losing his life, ran into the woods and soon came back with a big load of rattan. Kancil told him to bind his own legs tightly together with the rattan, then sit with his back  against a big tree so that Kancil could help him tie his body against the tree trunk. The giant did everything Kancil said. Soon he was sitting boud and helpless against the tree. To be  completely safe, Kancil wound several more pieces of rattan round him so that the giant could hardly move. Then the clever little animal called out to his friends who were still busy catching fish some distance away. Swine, Tiger and Elephant did not have much trouble killing their enemy.

Of course, Kancil did not tell them that he had tricked the giant, and the other three animals thought that he had fought with him. They all admired his enormous strength. They gave Kancil the biggest share of the fish, and after having finished their meal each of them went his own way.

Lancang Kuning

 

            Folklore of Kampar, RiauSungai Kampar Kiri DAK, Riau. That said, in the days of long time ago, there lived a poor woman with her son called the Lancang. They both lived in a rickety shack in a country called Kampar. Father of the Lancang had long died. Emak Lancang worked on the fields of others, while the Lancang grazing neighbors.
            One day, the Lancang truly experience the peak of saturation. He was tired of being poor. He wants to work and raise money that would become rich. He finally asked his mother permission to go wander into the land. "Mother, Lancang can not stand to live in poverty. Lancang want to go abroad, Madame! "Begged the presumptuous to his mother. Although a heavy heart, his mother finally allow the Lancang go. "All right, Lancang. You may wander, but do not forget your mother. If later you've become rich, immediately go home, "said Mother Lancang permit.

The next day, the Lancang leave his hometown. His mother provided him some favorite food wrappers dodak lumping to Lancang.
Many years have the Lancang in overseas, Eventually he became a wealthy merchant. He has dozens of merchant ships and hundreds of men. His wives was the pretty and all came from wealthy families as well. Meanwhile, far away in his hometown, Mother of the Lancang poor living alone.
One day the Lancang said to his wives sailing that he would invite them to sail to Andalas. His wives were very happy. "Kakanda, may we bring supplies that much?" Asked one of the wives Lancang. "Yes ... Kakanda, we want to partying on the boat," added the wife of the other Lancang. The Lancang also grant the request of his wives. "O my wives! Bring your supplies at will, "replied the Lancang. To hear the answer of the Lancang, they bring all kinds of supplies, from food to musical instruments to feast on board. They also bring silk and various gold and silver jewelry to be held on board so that the impression of luxury and wealth of the Lancang more visible.
Since departing from the port, all passengers aboard the Lancang partying. They play music, singing, and dancing along the cruise. Until the end of the Lancang magnificent ship docked in the Kampar River, the Lancang hometown. "Hey …! We've arrived ...! "Shouted the crew.

In an instant, a sudden blow to the powerful hurricane. Lightning jarring grabbed the Lancang ship. Wave hit the ship the Kampar River Lancang until shattered. Everyone on the boat was screaming confusion, while people were running away from the river.
"Emaaak ..., the Lancang son home. I'm sorry, Maaak! "Came the faint cries of the Lancang in the middle of typhoons and hurricanes. However, disaster was inevitable. The Lancang and all his wives and children down with the ship's magnificent.

Since the incedent, people believe that the overflowing river Kampar Kampar is not only caused by high rainfall in this region, but also due to the emergence of the mast at Lake Lancang Lancang. Kampar district are included in the province of Riau, very prone to flooding. Almost every year the Kampar River overflowed, causing major flooding which can soak the surrounding settlements.
